2008 Economic Stimulus Act

Provides Tax Benefits to Businesses!

Did you know?

Not only does the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 provide stimulus payments to individuals, but it also provides incentives to businesses. This incentive includes a 50% depreciation allowance for purchases made in 2008. "Under the new law, a taxpayer is entitled to depreciate 50% of the adjusted basis of certain qualified property during the year that the property is placed in service." To qualify, you must place the property in service between the dates of December 31, 2007 and January 1, 2009.

In addition, the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 includes an incentive that will increase the small business expensing limitation for the tax year 2008 and the years going forward. What this means to you is that "the qualifiying taxpayer can elect to treat the cost of certain property as an expense and deduct it in the year the property is placed in service instead of depreciating it over several years." The Hendrick Automotive Group President's Club Awards Ceremony and trip have come and gone. This year, City Chevrolet's top 5 salespeople were honored at a magical ceremony, the type that only Disney and Hendrick Automotive Group could produce, which was held at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Those in attendance were Dan Franklin (Commercial Sales), James Potter (New Car Sales), Andy Snyder (New Car Sales), Phil Goodin (Pre-Owned Sales), and Keith Black (Commercial Sales), along with their guests.
The theme of this year's awards banquet was "Simply the Best" and featured praises and words of wisdom from Kirk Heppler (Senior Vice President and Western Division C.O.F.), Tom Blocker (Senior Vice President and Eastern Division C.O.F.), Jim Huzl (President/Chief Executive Officer), and founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group, Rick Hendrick himself. Mr. Hendrick spoke about the philosophy of the Hendrick Automotive Group and the characteristics that the company prides itself on--character, hardwork, enthusiasm, a team spirit, and family. Above all else, Mr. Hendrick believes in taking care of his employees, the importance of family, and doing what is right for his customers.
As Rick Hendrick's flagship store, City Chevrolet has held itself to the same standards as Mr. Hendrick, right from the onset. He also spoke about what the President's Club represents to him. and the Lifetime Achievement Award goes to...

MR. KEITH BLACK! Keith was awarded the prestigious "Lifetime Achievement Award" by General Manager and Executive Vice President, Jerry Ferrell, this past Saturday during our weekly employee meeting. Keith Black is the first amongst the Hendrick Automotive Group's dealership employees to receive this honor. This prospect was thoroughly discussed within the management team, not only at City Chevrolet, but at Hendrick Automotive Group, as well. Keith Black has an impressive 37 years working with City Chevrolet. He was chosen as the first to receive this award because of his notable tenure with the dealership, extensive list of achievements, and involvement with the Hendrick Automotive Group. Throughout his 37 years at City Chevrolet, Keith has held several positions including New Car Manager, New Truck Manager, Fleet Manager, and General Sales Manager. However, his favorite position of all is that which he holds right now...Fleet and Commercial Salesperson. Why you ask? Simply because he likes dealing with people one-on-one, and this position allows him the greatest ability to do so. When asked how long he plans on being in the business, he responded, "As long as my health holds out. Ten or twenty more years." Thank you to Keith Black for 37 wonderful years of service!

City Chevrolet's Salespeople of the Year for 2007!

Congratulations to the top 3 salespeople at City Chevrolet for achieving one of, if not the greatest honor at our dealership for a salesperson. From left to right, James Potter (New Car Sales), Dan Franklin (Commercial Sales), and Phil Goodin (Pre-Owned Sales) are the 2007 recipients.

James Potter just celebrated his 8th anniversary with City Chevrolet, and has earned himself a position in the Internet Sales Department, where he primarily assists customers who have been shopping for a vehicle via the Internet. While James is certified to sell all vehicles, his primary focus is commercial and new vehicle sales. James is known as the dealership's "guru" when it comes to knowledge of vehicles. When you meet James, his positive attitude and vast product knowledge will make you a customer for life.

Dan Franklin started in our Commercial Department about 5 years ago. Dan's dedication has earned him the title of "Pinnacle Domestic Salesperson of the Year" for the entire Hendrick Automotive Group for 2007. He will be honored at the company trip in Orlando, Florida in March, 2008. Dan's motto is "24 / 7 / 365," meaning that he markets himself as being available to his customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When you meet Dan, you'll see how his commitment to his customers and to his employer, has earned him that title.

Phil Goodin will be celebrating his 2 year anniversary with City Chevrolet in March. While still relatively new to the dealership, he is well-seasoned to the business and has what it takes to keep his customers happy. His customers continually return and ask for him by name, which is evident in his 100% customer satisfaction score. When you meet Phil, it will be as apparent to you as it is to us, that he has a long career ahead of him with City Chevrolet.

Congraulations to City Chevrolet’s All-Star sales people for making the Presidents Club! From left, Dan Franklin of the Commercial Department received the Pinnacle award(#1 domestic retail sales) for the whole Hendrick Automotive Group. James Potter(New Car Sales), Andy Snyder(New Car Sales), Phil Goodin(Pre-Owned Sales) received the award for top dealership sales. All will receive a President’s Club plaque, ring or diamond addition, customized business cards, and recognition at the company banquet, this year held in Orlando, Florida.

Employee of the Month!

City Chevrolet is proud to announce our Employee of the Month award to Heather Dozier for the month of October and Bryan Outen for the month of November.
Heather Dozier has been with City Chevrolet in our CDC department since February 2005 and has been a wonderful asset in customer service and to her fellow co-workers.
Bryan Outen has been with us since August of 2000 in the service department. He currently works prepping all of our new vehicles making them showroom ready.
Both employee's received an Employee of the Month trophy and a cash award! These nominations are selected on a monthly basis by all of the department heads.

2007 Green Car of the Year!!!

I'm sure most Americans were thinking a small lightweight sedan or coupe when the tittle "2008 Green Car of the year" is heard but the Los Angeles Auto Show shattered that perception.
