Overview

The Silverado 1500 Hybrid adds available with a hard-drive navigation radio with AM/FM/SiriusXM stereo with CD/DVD player, MP3 compatibility and USB port, standard rear-vision camera on 2HY models and OnStar RemoteLink application for the 2012 model year. The list of exterior colors now includes Silver Ice Metallic. The Silverado Hybrid is offered in the crew cab body style on both 2WD and 4WD models, with 1HY and 2HY trim levels.

Powertrain And Performance

the Silverado 1500 Hybrid is powered by a 6.0-liter V8 engine and two 60-kilowatt electric motors with a nickel-metal hydride battery pack placed under the rear seat (warranted for eight years/100,000 miles) which produce the power of 379 horses. The four-speed electrically variable transmission is a complex cross between a regular automatic and a CVT. The EPA fuel economy estimates are 20 mpg city/23 mpg highway and 21 combined.

Build And Styling

The base 1HY is equipped with a 40/20/40-split front bench seat, full power accessories, dual-zone automatic climate control, 18-inch alloy wheels, a soft tonneau cover for the cargo bed, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with auxiliary audio controls, cruise control, OnStar, Bluetooth and a six-speaker CD/MP3 stereo with satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack. The 2HY includes power-adjustable pedals, leather upholstery, power front bucket seats, a navigation system with real-time traffic updates and an upgraded Bose audio system with a USB port.

Safety Features

StabiliTrak electronic stability control system helps reduce the risk of rollover crashes by keeping the vehicle in the driver?s intended path by applying throttle, braking or a combination of both. Four-wheel-disc brake system with ABS, remote keyless entry and On Star package are standard.
