Alex Anzaldua...Employee and Volunteer

City Chevrolet's Spanish-speaking Pre-Owned Salesperson, ALEX ANZALDUA, was featured in "The Charlotte Observer's Local & State" section on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. It was quite a moving article, written by Mark Price, about how Alex went from being a patient of the Ada Jenkins Center clinic to a volunteer. Alex jammed his toe last summer but did not get it checked out immediately. Due to the fact that Alex's hours had been cut at work and he no longer had health insurance, he waited nearly 2 months before seeking medical attention. Alex had attempted to get treated at 2 other free health clinics, but had been turned away because either he didn't live in the correct zip code or he did not have an appointment. It was then that he found himself at the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, the free health clinic that essentially saved Alex from losing his foot. Gangrene had set in and luckily, he only lost his toe instead of the entire foot. Alex was extremely grateful for the clinic and said, "I told the people at the clinic that, as soon as I was able, I was going to find a way to pay them back for helping me." Alex didn't waste any time living up to his promise. It has been 8 months since Alex's surgery and he continues to volunteer weekly at the Ada Jenkins Center, as he is a Spanish-language interpreter for this United Way agency that provides free health care to the residents of Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, and Mooresville. Nearly 50% of the visitors that the clinic treats are Latinos. Alex says, "They're like I was--no money and no health insurance. On top of that, many of them don't speak the language, so they let things go." This clinic is basically on the honor system. They don't require an appointment or proof of U.S. citizenship. Meet the Presidents...

Congraulations to City Chevrolet's All-Star sales people for making the Presidents Club! From left, Dan Franklin of the Commercial Department received the Pinnacle award(#1 domestic retail sales) for the whole Hendrick Automotive Group. James Potter(New Car Sales), Andy Snyder(New Car Sales), Phil Goodin(Pre-Owned Sales) received the award for top dealership sales.
