Brad Keselowski Joins Hendrick Motorsports Team

Hendrick Motorsports is proud to welcome 24-year-old Brad Keselowski to the team. Brad will make his debut on October 11, 2008 during the Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway and follow that up with the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on November 2nd.
Owner of Hendrick Motorsports, Rick Hendrick, says, "He has a load of talent and potential, and we're excited to give him an opportunity at the next level." As a native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Keselowski says, "The Sprint Cup Series has always been a goal, and now it's up to me to take advantage of the opportunity. I have to thank Mr. Hendrick, Dale Jr. and the folks at GoDaddy.com for showing so much faith in me."
Keselowski will be driving the No. 25 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet Impala SS for Hendrick Motorsports in 2008. GoDaddy.com is the world's largest registrar of domain names.
The City Chevrolet family would like to wish Brad Keselowski, along with the entire Hendrick Motorsports Team "good luck" during the fall season. Fortunately, the Hendrick Team doesn't have to rely on "luck".

Who Needs Gas...Go Electric!

Mark November, 2010 on your calendar because that is when you can get your hands on the new Chevrolet Volt. This electric car is powered by a 400-pound lithium-ion battery which makes your commute virtually silent and can get you to and from work without using a drop of gas. For the 75% of America's commuters who travel less than 40 miles a day, this means using zero gas and producing zero emissions. Wouldn't it be great to not have to pay to go to work for a change? Plus, with the rising cost of fuel and the millions of tons of carbon dioxide that are pumped into the atmosphere each year, it's our goal to move away from oil as fast as possible.
This has been, and will continue to be, a major focus for General Motors until its release date. Over 700 GM employees have tested batteries and electronics, and shaped and re-shaped the vehicle itself. Don't think for a moment that this vehicle is all work and no play. With its sleek good looks that trump other family sedans in the industry, you'll want to drive more than 40 miles a day! And what happens when you do? The Volt's gas engine turns on. It generates electricity and feeds it to the battery, which will allow you to go several hundred miles before hitting a gas station or needing a charge.
Although other auto manufacturers have similar visions as the Chevrolet Volt, General Motors has been the most ambitious player in the game. This is largely due to GM's Vice Chairman for Global Product Development, Bob Lutz, who has been the "driving force behind the Volt." His dream of an all-electric car has finally come true. And don't even think of comparing the Chevy Volt to the Toyota Prius, as the Prius can only get you 7 or 8 miles on a fully-charged battery, as compared to the Volt's 40 miles.
The ability to get around without having to fill up once or twice a week at the pump has excited drivers all over the US joining the unofficial waiting list for the Volt. If you'd like to join City Chevrolet's list, please email melissa.mccullough@hendrickauto.com. Keep checking our website and blog for the most up-to-date information about new Chevy products!

Kudos for Bruce!

"I recently had an accident to avoid hitting a pedestrian. Having worked with City Chevrolet's Collision Center in the past, I drove my car immediately to City after the accient. I was met outside by Bruce Nalewajk as soon as I drove onto the lot. I worked with Bruce on repairs to my car from a previous accident. Throughout the entire experience, Bruce kept me up-to-date on the status of the repairs. When I received my car back from the body shop, they had not had time to properly clean the car. Bruce asked me to bring the car back in the following Wednesday and made sure that the car was cleaned appropriately. This demonstrates nothing short of superb customer service, which, as you know, is so severely lacking in so many businesses today. I wouldn't trust my BMW to anyone else! I have and will continue to recommend Bruce and the City Collision Center team to all of my friends when the need arises to have repairs done to their vehicles. Keep up the good work!" Kelly

City Chevrolet's New Intern!

Meet Cevin Crawford...City Chevrolet's 2nd Official Summer Intern! That's pronounced like "Kevin" not "7." Cevin comes to us all the way from Northwood University, which is in Midland, Michigan. In the fall, he will begin his Senior year in Automotive Marketing, which is the chief major that Northwood University is known for. This is the 2nd year that Hendrick has participated in the summer internship program with Northwood University. Each intern is required to complete 400 hours within a 9-week period. Last summer, our intern, Ryan Koch, was placed in variable operations and spent the majority of his time in our CDC/Internet Department. This year, Cevin Crawford will be spending thie majority of his 9 weeks gracing our Service Department and shadowing Tripp Wilson, who is one of City's finest and senior Service Advisors.
When Cevin was asked what he wants to do after his last year at college, he said, "I want to work for a big company like Hendrick." He went on to say that maybe he'd like to follow in his dad's footsteps and own a store someday, as his father had opened his own pre-owned store in 1981 called Tuscola Brokers.
I asked Cevin what the best part of interning at City Chevrolet is, and he responded, "the reputation and how business is run...you take care of the customer." When I asked him who the nicest person is that he has met so far, he quickly responded, "Tim Whitten...he's fun!" Since Tim is Cevin's manager for the summer and will ultimately determine Cevin's "internship fate," that was a wise, yet candid response!
"One last question," I said. "Why did your parents name you 'Cevin' with a 'C' and not a 'K'?" Cevin chuckled a bit and said "The night before I was born, my dad had a dream that one day I would own a dealership and it would be called 'Cevin Crawford Chevrolet'...all C's!" With a foresight like his father's, combined with the drive and determination that we've witnessed from Cevin, watch out Michigan dealerships, watch out!

Tailgating at City Chevrolet!

You thought that Lowe's Motor Speedway was the only place to find tailgaters? You were wrong! Here are City Chevrolet's 1st "official" tailgaters. From left to right, meet Rusty Jenkins, City Chevrolet's Andy Snyder, Roger Mealey, Karen Mealey, and Debra Starkey. These folks hail from Lost Creek, West Virginia and came to Charlotte for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, which was on Saturday, May 17th. In conjunction with the race, they planned on picking out and driving back to West Virginia in a new 2008 Silverado Crew Cab Z71, but not before doing a little shopping at Concord Mills. The Mealeys were referred to Andy Snyder by Roger's sister, Bobbi Jo Mealey, and were quite impressed with his customer service. Roger, Karen, Rusty, and Debra are all huge Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fans, and keeping with the commemoration of his father, we were able to transfer the lucky #3 stickers to their new Silverado. Their tailgating experience at City Chevrolet included pizza from Dominos and a few bottles of Pepsi. Wouldn't Jeff Gordon be proud. Thanks to Roger & Karen Mealey, Rusty Jenkins, and Debra Starkey for being such good sports!

City Chevrolet President's Club 2007

SIMPLY THE BEST!
The Hendrick Automotive Group President's Club Awards Ceremony and trip have come and gone. This year, City Chevrolet's top 5 salespeople were honored at a magical ceremony, the type that only Disney and Hendrick Automotive Group could produce, which was held at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Those in attendance were Dan Franklin (Commercial Sales), James Potter (New Car Sales), Andy Snyder (New Car Sales), Phil Goodin (Pre-Owned Sales), and Keith Black (Commercial Sales), along with their guests.
The theme of this year's awards banquet was "Simply the Best" and featured praises and words of wisdom from Kirk Heppler (Senior Vice President and Western Division C.O.F.), Tom Blocker (Senior Vice President and Eastern Division C.O.F.), Jim Huzl (President/Chief Executive Officer), and founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group, Rick Hendrick himself. Mr. Hendrick spoke about the philosophy of the Hendrick Automotive Group and the characteristics that the company prides itself on--character, hardwork, enthusiasm, a team spirit, and family. Above all else, Mr. Hendrick believes in taking care of his employees, the importance of family, and doing what is right for his customers.
As Rick Hendrick's flagship store, City Chevrolet has held itself to the same standards as Mr. Hendrick, right from the onset. He also spoke about what the President's Club represents to him. This elite group is the best of the best and together they uphold the highest standards in regards to personal growth, ethical conduct, and teamwork. The 2007 President's Club recipients accounted for 27,465.75 units sold, which is 22% of the total sales amongst the Hendrick dealerships. Congratulations to City's "best of the best" and we look forward to serving you, our valued customers, throughout the rest of 2008!
