HENDRICK'S JIMMIE JOHNSON WINS AT MARTINSVILLE!

Congratulations to the driver of the #48 Lowe's Chevrolet, Jimmie Johnson, for taking home the victory in Martinsville for Sunday's 500-lap NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event! This was an extra-special day for team owner, Rick Hendrick, as this was the 25th anniversary of Team Hendrick's first win.

On April 29, 1984, Geoff Bodine took the #5 Chevrolet to Victory Lane at this track. This win, 25 years ago, earned Team Hendrick a sponsor for the season and helped jumpstart what is now an organization that holds 12 NASCAR championships. On Sunday, March 29, 2009, the Hendrick Team celebrated with Jimmie Johnson, as it picked up its 176th Cup win.

Johnson crossed the finish line .774 seconds ahead of competitor Denny Hamlin. Johnson was followed by his Hendrick Motorsports teammates, all who posted top-10 finishes. Congratulations to the entire Hendrick Motorsports team, from your flagship store, City Chevrolet.

GO GO GORDON!

City Chevrolet congratulates Team Hendrick on Sunday's race. Jeff Gordon took 2nd place at Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Auto Club Speedway in California. Gordon led the pack 5 times during the race and 64 laps, but couldn't pull past the race winner, Matt Kenseth, at the end of the race. Gordon is ranked 2nd in the driver standings, followed by teammates Jimmie Johnson (19th), Mark Martin (27th), and Dale Earnhardt Jr (35th). The Hendrick Motorsports teams are looking forward to next Sunday's 285-lap event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Gordon said, "I'm fired up, man. I'll tell you what, I can't wait to get to Vegas. This car is awesome fast. We showed it at Daytona and we showed it here today. I'm so proud of (crew chief) Steve Letarte and all these guys. They work so hard and they've taken a lot of heat over the last year. And they've got what it takes this year to give me the stuff and it is a privilege to drive." Who Needs Gas...Go Electric!

Mark November, 2010 on your calendar because that is when you can get your hands on the new Chevrolet Volt. This electric car is powered by a 400-pound lithium-ion battery which makes your commute virtually silent and can get you to and from work without using a drop of gas. For the 75% of America's commuters who travel less than 40 miles a day, this means using zero gas and producing zero emissions. Wouldn't it be great to not have to pay to go to work for a change? Plus, with the rising cost of fuel and the millions of tons of carbon dioxide that are pumped into the atmosphere each year, it's our goal to move away from oil as fast as possible.
This has been, and will continue to be, a major focus for General Motors until its release date. Over 700 GM employees have tested batteries and electronics, and shaped and re-shaped the vehicle itself. Don't think for a moment that this vehicle is all work and no play. With its sleek good looks that trump other family sedans in the industry, you'll want to drive more than 40 miles a day! And what happens when you do? The Volt's gas engine turns on. It generates electricity and feeds it to the battery, which will allow you to go several hundred miles before hitting a gas station or needing a charge.
Although other auto manufacturers have similar visions as the Chevrolet Volt, General Motors has been the most ambitious player in the game. This is largely due to GM's Vice Chairman for Global Product Development, Bob Lutz, who has been the "driving force behind the Volt." His dream of an all-electric car has finally come true. And don't even think of comparing the Chevy Volt to the Toyota Prius, as the Prius can only get you 7 or 8 miles on a fully-charged battery, as compared to the Volt's 40 miles.
The ability to get around without having to fill up once or twice a week at the pump has excited drivers all over the US joining the unofficial waiting list for the Volt. If you'd like to join City Chevrolet's list, please email melissa.mccullough@hendrickauto.com. Keep checking our website and blog for the most up-to-date information about new Chevy products!
