Below is a letter written on June 3, 2009 about Collision Center Service Advisor, Jeff Laica: I recently had my car (2003 Hyundai Santa Fe) repaired at City Chevrolet due to a car accident and Mr. Laica was my collision specialist. Meet Kylie Blank!

MEET KYLIE BLANK...City Chevrolet's youngest patron. Kylie just turned 5 years old on May 6th and is the daughter of Joanne and Bobby Blank, longtime customers of our dealership. Mom says that Kylie loves coming in to see City's primary mascot, Precious the dog. Precious used to come into the dealership with the late Papa Joe Hendrick, and has since been attached to Jake McFee. Every morning, Jake picks up Precious from Mrs. Hendrick's home nearby and Precious spends the day with Jake running errands and "shaking hands and kissing babies" around town. Whenever her mom and dad come in to service one of their 2 vehicles purchased from City Chevrolet, Kylie spends most of her time petting and playing with Precious. She also recently met our newly-adopted secondary mascot, Blazer the cat. Blazer is a stray that periodically came around the dealership looking for food. Queen City Corvette Club at City Chevrolet!

The Queen City Corvette Club will be at City Chevrolet on Saturday, May 16 from 9am-3pm for their annual Charity Car Show. This event is FREE to the public. All you need to do is come on out and check out the rows of classic and new Corvettes that the Queen City Corvette Club members will have on display. From the "daily drivers" to the "mint condition," the QCCC has it all.

Throughout the year, the QCCC members raise money through the sponsorship of car shows, 50/50 raffles, and silent auctions. The club has a charity committee that is responsible for choosing the charities that the club will support on a yearly basis. The club supports both local and national organizations. Last year they raised money for the U.S.O, the Matthews Help Center, Operation Homefront, and the National Corvette Museum. As a separate event, the QCCC members "adopt" families of those who serve overseas in the Air National Guard. They are supplied with kids' ages and "wish lists" and are able to help these families have an extra-special Christmas.

Rick Hendrick's City Chevrolet Goes to Bat for Porter Ridge Athletic Association and Matthews Athletic Recreation Association. City Chevrolet sponsors Porter Ridge Athletic Association and Matthews Athletic Recreation Association with equipment, clinics and helps raise thousands of dollars with a Chevrolet giveaway.

PRESS RELEASE: Giving something back to the Charlotte community, Rick Hendrick's City Chevrolet announced today (Friday, April 17, 2009) that they are partnering with Porter Ridge Athletic Association and Matthews Athletic Recreation Association to provide the players and coaches with equipment, instructional clinics and a chance to raise $10,000 in funds for the 2009 season. Offering additional support to the community, Porter Ridge Athletic Association and Matthews Athletic Recreation Association will have the opportunity to raise as much as $10,000 through the Chevy-Vehicle Raffle where a new Chevy Malibu and Chevy Traverse, along with autographed Cal Ripken, Jr. memorabilia, will be given away. City Chevrolet and other area Chevrolet dealerships are donating the two cars to be raffled off. All proceeds from the raffle go to the participating leagues and communities.

HENDRICK'S JIMMIE JOHNSON WINS AT MARTINSVILLE!

Congratulations to the driver of the #48 Lowe's Chevrolet, Jimmie Johnson, for taking home the victory in Martinsville for Sunday's 500-lap NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event! This was an extra-special day for team owner, Rick Hendrick, as this was the 25th anniversary of Team Hendrick's first win.

On April 29, 1984, Geoff Bodine took the #5 Chevrolet to Victory Lane at this track. This win, 25 years ago, earned Team Hendrick a sponsor for the season and helped jumpstart what is now an organization that holds 12 NASCAR championships. On Sunday, March 29, 2009, the Hendrick Team celebrated with Jimmie Johnson, as it picked up its 176th Cup win.

Alex Anzaldua...Employee and Volunteer

City Chevrolet's Spanish-speaking Pre-Owned Salesperson, ALEX ANZALDUA, was featured in "The Charlotte Observer's Local & State" section on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. It was quite a moving article, written by Mark Price, about how Alex went from being a patient of the Ada Jenkins Center clinic to a volunteer. Alex jammed his toe last summer but did not get it checked out immediately. Due to the fact that Alex's hours had been cut at work and he no longer had health insurance, he waited nearly 2 months before seeking medical attention. Alex had attempted to get treated at 2 other free health clinics, but had been turned away because either he didn't live in the correct zip code or he did not have an appointment. It was then that he found himself at the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, the free health clinic that essentially saved Alex from losing his foot. Gangrene had set in and luckily, he only lost his toe instead of the entire foot. Alex was extremely grateful for the clinic and said, "I told the people at the clinic that, as soon as I was able, I was going to find a way to pay them back for helping me." Alex didn't waste any time living up to his promise. It has been 8 months since Alex's surgery and he continues to volunteer weekly at the Ada Jenkins Center, as he is a Spanish-language interpreter for this United Way agency that provides free health care to the residents of Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, and Mooresville. Nearly 50% of the visitors that the clinic treats are Latinos. Alex says, "They're like I was--no money and no health insurance. On top of that, many of them don't speak the language, so they let things go." This clinic is basically on the honor system. They don't require an appointment or proof of U.S. citizenship. First 2010 Chevrolet Camaro VIN0001 Drives Off the Line - Plant Footage

City Chevrolet's General Manager, Jerry Ferrell, was present at the Canada GM Factory to watch Rick Hendrick drive the very first 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, VIN#0001, off of the assembly line.

Mr. Hendrick...Say "CHEESE!" What an exciting day it was at the Oshawa, Ontario General Motors assembly plant on Monday, March 16, 2009. Owner of the largest privately-held automobile organization and Hendrick Motorsports, Rick Hendrick brought a team of roughly 17 of his top dealers from Charlotte, NC to commemorate the first official day of production for the all-new 2010 Chevy Camaro. The Camaro was discontinued from the Chevrolet line-up back in 2002 and has become one of the most highly-anticipated new-car launches in automotive history.

General Motors has already pre-sold 14,000 of the new Camaros. However, Rick Hendrick paid a pretty penny to be able to get the 1st Camaro off the production line...$350,000! This was done earlier in 2009 at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event which guaranteed Mr. Hendrick the 2010 Camaro with a VIN that ended in 0001. All of the proceeds from this sale went to the American Heart Association. Chevrolet had also agreed to sell him VIN 0002, which onlookers were pleased to capture on their cameras, as well.

VIN 0001 was a loaded Black Camaro SS with the optional Inferno Orange leather interior. VIN 0002 was a Silver Ice Metallic Camaro SS with Black leather interior. Rick Hendrick is truly a motivational speaker and he rejuvenated the General Motors' factory employees by saying, "I want to tell you loud and clear that these products that you are building today are the best I've ever seen in the 33 years I've been a dealer. We needed the rebirth of the Camaro." He then proceeded to sign t-shirts and memorabilia for the factory employees, as many proved to be avid NASCAR fans.

Amongst the team of top dealers that Rick Hendrick had accompany him to this monumental occasion, was City Chevrolet's very own General Manager and Executive Vice President, Jerry Ferrell. Jerry was so excited upon his return and shared the day's events with any employee who asked and was proud to show his photos of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Last year's stimulus bill expanded "section 179" expensing, a provision that lets businesses deduct as an expense the costs of some property purchases such as vehicles, machinery, and computers. City Chevrolet congratulates Team Hendrick on Sunday's race. Jeff Gordon took 2nd place at Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Auto Club Speedway in California. Gordon led the pack 5 times during the race and 64 laps, but couldn't pull past the race winner, Matt Kenseth, at the end of the race. Gordon is ranked 2nd in the driver standings, followed by teammates Jimmie Johnson (19th), Mark Martin (27th), and Dale Earnhardt Jr (35th). The Hendrick Motorsports teams are looking forward to next Sunday's 285-lap event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Gordon said, "I'm fired up, man. I'll tell you what, I can't wait to get to Vegas.
