Opening its doors on January 23, 1935, City Chevrolet was originally located in downtown Charlotte. City’s first Sunday newspaper ad featured a new Standard Chevrolet with Blue-Flame valve-in-head engine for $465. On December 19, 1966, City opened its new and current location at 5101 East Independence Boulevard. In 1978, Mr. Rick Hendrick acquired City Chevrolet and it became the flagship store of over 60 Hendrick-owned dealerships.
Although the location of the dealership and price of a new car may have changed throughout the years, what have not changed are the principles that have made our company successful—honesty, integrity, and teamwork.
